Bro. Clark, a newly Raised MM of Kennet Lodge, 4414, organised an informal Christmas Curry at an Indian Restaurant in Reading in December. During the course of the meal Bro. Clark pulled out a book of raffle tickets and a bag of prizes he had personally purchased, which resulted in raising £65.
As this wasn’t an “official” meeting of Kennet members Bro. Clark wanted to do something different with the money raised, especially considering the impending Festive period; and wanted to put the money towards helping those less fortunate. He requested the money raised went towards buying goods for the Wokingham Food Bank collection in the foyer at Sindlesham.
Prior to the Kennet meeting on Wednesday 23rd January Bro. Clark (along with W. Bro. Bone) went shopping. As well as buying non-perishable food items we bought other household items such as cleaning products, and even toilet rolls, toothpaste and toothbrushes. By shopping carefully, looking for special offers and staying away from brands it was shocking how far £65 went.
The amount of goods purchased will have a direct impact on many families living in distressed circumstances in the local area.
